Top 5 Tips to get back to school! As the beginning of the school year looms closely now, thoughts of school, lunchboxes, friends, playgrounds, school pick up and drop off and buses and car trips enter our children’s and us as parents minds. For most children these thoughts can bring excitement and anticipation of all the remembered playtimes, games and fun learning that has happened previously for them. For some children the determination of a fresh start as the new school year begins enters their thoughts. For others it can be a bit of anxiety or worries as a new teacher or new environment, starting big school beckons and they may need some reassurance and familiarity to help and support themselves with these new changes ahead.

Tip #1 Routine
Holidays is a time when we can relax, be free of routine and structure, go to bed later, sleep in, have treats, play and generally rest, recharge and rejuvenate. School is a place like the workplace that uses timetables, processes, procedures and routines throughout the day. As the time to return to your child’s regular routine of learning gets closer it is very helpful to reinstate or restart routines that are more similar to the time when they are at school or early learning centres.
